The Technology
We leverage **WebAssembly (Wasm)** and the powerful `libheif` library to decode Apple's HEIC format directly in your browser. This removes the need for expensive and risky server-side processing.
Why we built this?
When HEIC was first introduced, we found ourselves constantly uploading sensitive family photos to random websites just to make them viewable on a PC. We didn't know where those photos were going or if they were being stored on a hidden server.
We built **HEIC2JPG** to be the tool we wanted: **Free, Fast, and Private**. No login required, no subscription needed, and most importantly—no uploading.
